SHINee's Onew involved in unlicensed injection scandal

SHINee member Onew is reportedly under investigation for allegedly receiving injections from an unlicensed practitioner, a scandal that has also implicated South Korean comedian Park Na-rae. Onew's agency, Griffin Entertainment, confirmed on August 13 that the singer has been cooperating with authorities since May.

Griffin Entertainment stated that Onew mistakenly believed the individual, referred to as the "injection auntie," was a licensed medical professional or hospital staff member. The agency emphasized that Onew had no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the medical procedures or the practitioner's qualifications at the time.

The investigation is part of a broader inquiry into allegations that Park Na-rae hired an unlicensed individual to administer medication at her home. The "injection auntie" is suspected of performing intravenous drips and prescribing antidepressants in both residential and vehicle settings. Police reportedly searched the individual's residence and vehicle earlier this year.

This situation has drawn significant attention, especially after Onew had previously gifted a signed album to the individual, writing a message of gratitude. Griffin Entertainment clarified that Onew had visited a hospital where the woman worked in April 2022 through a friend, leading him to believe she was affiliated with a legitimate medical facility. The agency urged the public to refrain from spreading unsubstantiated speculation.
