Shinsegae Group to Operate Taipei Main Station Commercial Spaces

Taipei Main Station's commercial spaces are set to undergo a significant transition as Shinsegae Group officially assumes operational control on Saturday, November 25. The handover from the previous operator, Breeze Center, marks the beginning of a new era for the bustling transportation hub.

We thank the Breeze Group for their efforts over the past 19 years for the North Station commercial space. I believe everyone can see that the commercial activity atmosphere of the entire North Station commercial space and the level of passenger service have been greatly improved.

Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) President Feng Hui-sheng expressed gratitude to Breeze Center for their 19 years of service, acknowledging the substantial improvements in the station's commercial vibrancy and traveler services during their tenure. The new 15-year contract with Shinsegae, which includes an option for an additional 8-year extension, is expected to further elevate the station's offerings.

Feng revealed several key highlights planned under Shinsegae's management. These include the installation of a unique "boutique craft grand clock" and a large-screen display in the main hall, designed to offer a new experience for travelers. Additionally, Shinsegae's proposal incorporates AI technology to enhance restroom services and navigation systems, aiming for greater convenience and intelligence for passengers.

Tomorrow morning at 6 o'clock, Shinsegae will officially take over.

The station's commercial area spans 14,000 square meters, with 120 retail spaces. Currently, 110 of these vendors have signed short-term leases with Shinsegae. The station is slated for a major renovation, with completion expected by the end of 2028. Throughout this process, TRA and Shinsegae have pledged to maintain service continuity and consider the needs of travelers and the public.

Shinsegae has proposed a 600-inch 'City Welcome' large screen wall, through which everyone can have a new experience. Some sports events can also be broadcast at the North Station.

The transition is scheduled to begin with operational handover at 3 p.m. on Friday, continuing until midnight. Shinsegae's team will then commence setup, with the commercial spaces officially reopening at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Shinsegae is also actively pursuing international brands to join the station's retail mix.
