Ship sinks near India, two rescued, 22 still missing

A Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier, the 'MV Ocean Winner,' has sunk in the Bay of Bengal, initiating a large-scale search and rescue operation. The vessel was en route to Singapore from the Paradip port in India's Odisha state when it issued a distress signal approximately 700 kilometers east of Visakhapatnam. The Indian Navy and Coast Guard immediately launched a coordinated rescue effort in response to the emergency.

During the operation, two of the 24 crew members aboard the 'MV Ocean Winner' were successfully rescued. A Navy aircraft was dispatched to survey the scene, and the Coast Guard deployed three vessels. The rescued crew members were recovered from life rafts, with the Navy aircraft coordinating the operation with the assistance of another vessel, 'MT Aisopos.'

Reports indicate that the crew consisted of 20 Chinese nationals, three from Myanmar, and one from Bangladesh. The nationalities of the two rescued individuals were not immediately clear. As of the latest reports, 22 crew members remain missing, and efforts to locate them are ongoing. The exact cause of the sinking is still under investigation.
