Shock in Patras: 35-Year-Old Held Girlfriend, 16, Locked Up and Beaten – Suspect is Repeat Offender

Shockwaves have hit Patras, Greece, following the arrest of a 35-year-old businessman accused of illegally detaining and assaulting his 16-year-old girlfriend. Authorities revealed the man is a repeat offender with previous convictions for domestic violence.

The case came to light after a relative of the minor alerted the police. Officers rushed to the businessman's home in Patras, where they found the teenager allegedly held against her will, denied permission to leave. The rescue operation was dramatic, with police forced to break down the door to safely extract the minor. The 35-year-old suspect reportedly reacted aggressively upon his arrest, threatening legal action and verbally abusing the officers.

During a search of the residence, a small quantity of cannabis was discovered and seized. Consequently, a criminal case was filed against him for domestic violence and drug possession. The suspect, known in the catering industry and reportedly managing entertainment venues in Patras, has a history of legal troubles. In 2024, he was arrested following a complaint from his then-girlfriend for physical assault, threats, and insults. Police sources also indicate a prior arrest for a drug-related offense following a traffic stop in Corinth.

The Hellenic Police officially stated that the accused "threatened the minor girlfriend and illegally detained her in his home, without allowing her to leave." They confirmed his status as a repeat offender in domestic violence cases. The suspect has been handed over to the judicial authorities. The case has sparked widespread concern in the Patras community, particularly given the victim's young age and the suspect's extensive criminal record.
