Shocking Discovery: Chicken Feet Litter Taichung Beach

A beach in Dajia, Taichung, was found littered with a large number of discarded chicken feet, shocking tourists and prompting an immediate response from local authorities. The discovery, shared on social media platform Threads, quickly drew public attention and concern over environmental pollution.

Environmental and water bureaus dispatched personnel to the scene to assess the situation and organize a cleanup. Initial assessments suggest the waste may have been dumped on the shore or in a drainage area, flowed into the sea, and was subsequently washed back to shore by the tides. The environmental bureau stated it is actively investigating the origin of the waste.

Based on the images, it is likely that the waste was dumped on the shore or in a regional drainage system, flowed into the sea, and then returned to the shore due to the tides. The Environmental Protection Bureau will continue to investigate.

Authorities emphasized that illegal dumping of general waste can result in fines ranging from NT$1,200 to NT$100,000, while industrial waste carries penalties between NT$6,000 and NT$3 million. The water bureau noted that the garbage could have been dumped or carried by ocean currents. They have contracted a company for immediate cleanup and urged the public to help maintain the quality of the coastal environment.
