Shocking incident in Bucharest: Man dies after falling from Obor overpass

A man died on Saturday after falling from Bucharest’s Obor overpass in Sector 2, prompting a police investigation into how the incident occurred.

Police from the Bucharest General Police Directorate’s Ninth Precinct received a 112 emergency call at about 11:30 a.m. on September 5, 2026. Officers sent to the scene confirmed that a person had fallen from the overpass.

Today, September 5, 2026, officers from the Bucharest General Police Directorate, Ninth Precinct, were notified through a 112 call, at around 11:30 a.m., that a person had apparently fallen from the Obor overpass in Sector 2. The officers who promptly went to the scene confirmed that the reported facts had occurred.

A SMURD crew arrived and attempted to resuscitate the man, but doctors declared him dead despite their efforts. The case was then taken over by the Homicide Service.

The Bucharest Prosecutor’s Office, working with homicide investigators, will continue examining the facts and the circumstances of the death. Authorities said the man’s body would be transported to the National Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy.
