Shooting in barrio Capra leaves three injured, including a 10-year-old boy: Police investigate the attack

A shooting incident in the Capra neighborhood of Montevideo on Monday afternoon resulted in injuries to three people, including a 10-year-old boy. The Montevideo Police Department reported that personnel from Operational Zone III are investigating the event, which occurred at the intersection of Alfredo Zitarrosa and Clavel del Aire streets.

Police arrived at the scene following multiple calls reporting gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found a man wounded by a firearm. Another individual attempted to flee but was detained by police and found to be in possession of drugs.

Authorities learned that a 10-year-old boy had been taken to a medical center after sustaining a gunshot wound while traveling with his mother near the incident site. Additionally, a 26-year-old woman in the vicinity was treated for a superficial head injury.

The wounded man located at the scene received medical attention and remains hospitalized under police custody. The investigation is being conducted by the Investigations unit of Operational Zone III, under the prosecutor's office.

Separately, police are also investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday in the Piedras Blancas neighborhood, where a 25-year-old man was killed by gunfire from a passing vehicle. The victim, who had no prior criminal record, was shot eleven times. Twelve shell casings were found at the scene.
