Employees of the barber shop were being questioned by criminal investigators. Yazan Alayoubi, who was working at the shop's cash register, told reporters that three shots were fired, one of which was aimed at him. He took cover behind the counter and fled to another room, stating he did not know the shooter and the man was not masked. The reasons for the attack are unknown. Another witness described the incident as highly atypical for Sylt, especially at that time of day.
