Dozens of dedicated Singapore Airlines (SIA) staff and crew members recently undertook an emotionally charged mission, operating flight SQ8001 to repatriate 152 Singaporeans and their dependents from the conflict-ridden Middle East. For the crew, including senior cabin crew Gan Bee Bee and Captain Leonard Wee, the mission was more than just a flight; it was a profound act of service. Ms. Gan, a 25-year veteran, was moved to tears recounting the familiar "welcome home" announcement, recognizing the immense relief and significance it held for passengers returning to safety. Captain Wee, with over two decades of experience, emphasized the crew's empathy and the sense of purpose derived from facilitating the safe return of their fellow Singaporeans.
