Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu Arrested in Corruption Probe

Silivri Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu has been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged corruption within the municipality. The operation, initiated by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, led to the detention of 18 individuals.

Following health checks at Bayrampaşa State Hospital, the 18 detained individuals were brought to the Silivri Courthouse. After their statements were taken by prosecutors, 11 people, including Mayor Balcıoğlu, were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest. Seven others were referred with a request for judicial control measures.

The Criminal Judgeship of Peace subsequently issued arrest warrants for 10 individuals. Among those ordered to be detained are Mayor Bora Balcıoğlu, Aşkın Kaynar, Serdar Tuna, Gökhan Tuna, Adem Tuna, İbrahim Kömür, Aykut Batur, Fatih Yavuz, Yavuz Dirik, and Nihat Nahit Sarayönü. Eight other individuals were released under judicial control.
