Switzerland: 8.5 years in prison sought for 'financial predator' wealth manager

Prosecutors in Switzerland are seeking a significant prison sentence for a former wealth manager, Sébastien B., who is accused of defrauding clients. The prosecution is requesting eight and a half years in prison without parole for the 55-year-old Valais-based manager.

Assistant Attorney General Catherine Seppey described Sébastien B. as an "inveterate liar" and a "financial predator." The prosecution alleges that he, along with two associates, orchestrated a fraudulent scheme that "sold dreams" to investors. The charges against them include professional fraud, aggravated breach of trust, and aggravated disloyal management.

Seppey also requested six and five years in prison for Sébastien B.'s childhood friend and business partner, and a Dutch citizen who allegedly managed the startup at the center of the case, respectively. The prosecution contends that all three individuals should be found guilty of the charges.
