Sinaloa Congress approves governor's new leave, prepares to elect interim leader

The permanent delegation of the Sinaloa Congress has unanimously approved Governor Rubén Rocha Moya's latest request for a temporary leave of absence. This decision comes shortly after Rocha Moya had returned to his gubernatorial duties, only to seek another separation from his post.

During an extraordinary session, the legislative body reviewed two documents submitted by Rocha Moya between August 21 and 22. The first notified of his return to office, and the second formally requested the new leave. The nine deputies comprising the permanent delegation cast their votes by raising their hands, signaling their agreement.

Manuel de Jesús Guerrero Verdugo, president of the Permanent Delegation, announced that an extraordinary session of the full Legislative Power would be convened on Monday. This session will focus on reviewing the proposals for an interim governor to fill the vacancy left by Rocha Moya's extended absence.

The Congress has instructed the Commission of Constitutional Points to review potential candidates and present a recommendation for the interim governor. This process ensures continuity in the state's leadership while Rocha Moya is away. The situation highlights a period of political transition and decision-making within Sinaloa's government.
