Sinar Mas Foundation Hosts Quran Recitation for Imams in Banten

Yayasan Muslim Sinar Mas (YMSM), in partnership with the Central Leadership of the Imam Brotherhood Association and the Istiqlal Mosque Management Body, hosted the Banten Province Imam Mosque Quran Recitation Competition at the Baitul Mukhtar Grand Mosque in BSD City, Tangerang Selatan.

The event, organized through YMSM, is an effort to encourage the pure dissemination of the Quran's content and meaning, promoting a message of compassion, peace, and safety. "This activity is a joint effort, reminding each other that in stepping forward and filling our lives, we must always be guided by the purity of the values contained in the Quran," said YMSM Chairman Saleh Husin in a statement on Saturday (July 4, 2026).

He added that imams were chosen to participate due to their strategic role as the front line in spreading a pure, loving, and tolerant interpretation of Islam, one that is also relevant to current situations and dynamics. Saleh views this competition as a symbol of a shared commitment to building a harmonious and inclusive ecosystem of faith based on togetherness and brotherhood. Such initiatives, he believes, not only help strengthen faith literacy and preserve the values within the Quran but also serve as a means of fostering fellowship among people.

"For the participants testing their abilities, this competition should not be seen merely as a competition but also as an opportunity to connect and network for the beautiful propagation of Islam," said Saleh. During the event, Saleh was accompanied by several YMSM officials, including Condro Kirono, Burhanudin Amin, Suwandi, and Panji Himawan, along with management and leadership from Sinar Mas Land. They were there to support Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar and Banten Governor Andra Soni. YMSM, within Sinar Mas, acts as an open, tolerant, equal, and compassionate platform for practicing Islam. Externally, the foundation seeks collaborations with individuals and institutions that share similar intentions. Following the opening ceremony, a Friday prayer was held with approximately five thousand congregants, with Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar delivering the sermon.
