Sindh govt constitutes third medical board for exhumation of Mir Ali Raza’s body

The Sindh government has established a third medical board to conduct the exhumation of Mir Ali Raza's body, a process now scheduled for Saturday. This decision follows the withdrawal of two previous notifications and a family objection to the abrupt reconstitution of the board just hours after its first notification. The exhumation was initially planned for Friday but was deferred. The newly formed eight-member board includes police surgeon Dr. Sumaiyya Syed as convener and Professor Dr. Naseem Ahmed as pathologist. Other members are forensic experts and medicolegal officers from various institutions. The board has the authority to co-opt additional experts if needed. The exhumation is set to take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, with a civil judge and judicial magistrate in attendance. The court order for exhumation came after a controversy arose between Karachi police surgeons and investigators regarding alleged flaws in the initial post-mortem report. Raza, owner of eatery Wafflix, disappeared on July 28 and was found the next day with a gunshot wound. Controversy also emerged regarding the initial medico-legal report concerning his post-mortem examination.
