Sindh restores five-day working week for schools, colleges

Educational institutions in Pakistan's Sindh province will now operate on a five-day working week, from Monday to Friday. The provincial government has reversed its recent decision to implement a six-day schedule for schools and colleges.

The Sindh School Education and Literacy Department issued a notification on Wednesday confirming the change. The directive applies to all public and private educational institutions under the department's administrative control. Similarly, the Sindh College Education Department issued a parallel notification for colleges.

This move effectively cancels the six-day working week, which had been announced just last week. Prior to that, on March 31, the Sindh government had declared Saturdays and Sundays as off-days for educational institutions. That decision was part of broader austerity and fuel conservation measures adopted by the provincial government to address the economic impact of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
