Singaporean man rescued in Malaysia wanted by CNB, believed to know kidnapper

A Singaporean man, recently rescued by Malaysian authorities following an alleged kidnapping, is now sought by Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for a suspected drug offense. The 32-year-old man and his 33-year-old female companion, also a Singaporean, were reportedly found without valid travel documents and tested positive for drugs, according to the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

Both individuals are believed to know each other, and the man is thought to be acquainted with one of the alleged kidnappers. The families of both Singaporeans alerted the SPF after growing concerned about their safety. The SPF expressed gratitude to the Malaysian police for their swift assistance in securing the safe rescue.

In connection with the alleged kidnap-for-ransom plot, Malaysian authorities arrested six Malaysians aged between 32 and 46. Reports indicate that five of the arrested individuals have prior criminal records, and four tested positive for drug use. This marks the second successful rescue of Singaporean kidnapping victims by Malaysian police in recent weeks, following the recovery of a 72-year-old man on August 7.
