Sinkevičius: There is Much to Learn from Prunskienė

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius addressed questions about whether his government could learn from former Prime Minister Kazimira Prunskienė, emphasizing the distinct challenges of different eras. Sinkevičius stated that comparing their respective periods in office is difficult due to fundamental differences in national circumstances.

"The first government needed to create, to lay the foundations for the state," Sinkevičius told reporters. He elaborated that the initial budget was not self-sufficient, containing only tens of thousands of dollars. This contrasts sharply with the current economic reality.

"Currently, we live as a strong, economically capable state, an EU and NATO member, and we are solving budget issues that run into billions," Sinkevičius explained. His remarks underscore Lithuania's significant economic and geopolitical progress since its early years of independence, positioning the current government's responsibilities within a context of established national strength and international integration.
