Sirens sounded in Jordan as Iran launched retaliatory strikes against U.S.-linked targets in the Middle East, escalating a confrontation that began with renewed American attacks on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in Iran.

Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari warned on X that Iran “will no longer exercise restraint regarding Bahrain and Kuwait.” He added: “Gifts are on the way.” Al Arabiya, citing an Iranian military official, reported that missiles and drones were being launched toward targets linked to the United States. Iranian semi-official outlet Tasnim quoted Zolfaghari as promising “crushing and devastating blows” against the United States.

U.S. Central Command and President Donald Trump confirmed the American strikes. Trump said the United States was attacking Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for what he described as an unsuccessful attempt to place sea mines there and for eight missiles fired at a U.S. military base in Jordan. He said all eight missiles had been intercepted.
