Sister’s journey inspires Fiji Pearls netballer Tokaduadua

Crest Fiji Pearls representative Vutaeli Tokaduadua attributes her netball aspirations and drive to her older sister, Lily Tokaduadua. Lily, a professional netball player in New Zealand, left Fiji at 15 to pursue her sporting dreams, a decision that profoundly impacted Vutaeli.

Witnessing her sister's departure from family and friends to build a life abroad demonstrated the significant commitment and determination required for success. "Having to see her leave everything behind, friends and family, and stay on her own with families outside, it was hard for her, but she managed to work her way through it," Vutaeli shared.

Lily's resilience served as a powerful motivator for Vutaeli. "It was inspiring. I thought to myself, if she can do it, why can’t I? That’s when I started to take a look at myself and work hard to come through," Vutaeli explained. She is currently training with the Fiji Pearls as they gear up for upcoming international tournaments.
