Siti Zalina's Name Immortalized at Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Malaysian lawn bowls icon Siti Zalina Ahmad will receive a special honor at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with one of the four competition courts at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) Centre being named after her. This recognition creates a historic moment, as it is the first time in Commonwealth Games history that all four lawn bowls courts will be named after legendary athletes.

Joining Siti Zalina in this honor are England's David Bryant and Ellen Falkner, and Wales' Robert Weale. The initiative is a collaboration between Glasgow 2026 and World Bowls. Siti Zalina, a member of the World Bowls Hall of Fame, is one of Malaysia's most successful athletes in lawn bowls. She is one of only two women to have won two Commonwealth Games gold medals in the singles event.

She secured her first singles gold at the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games and successfully defended her title in Melbourne in 2006, cementing her status as a legend in the sport. The Selangor-born athlete later completed her collection of three gold medals by winning the pairs event at the Gold Coast 2018 Games. She also contributed a bronze medal in the fours event.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled from July 23 to August 2, will feature lawn bowls as a key event for the Malaysian contingent aiming to win medals. The tribute to Siti Zalina is expected to serve as a significant source of motivation for the national team.
