Six arrested after agent killed during femicide investigation raid in Mexico

Authorities in the State of Mexico have arrested six individuals following the death of an investigative agent during an operation in Cuautitlán Izcalli. The agent, Víctor Manuel Lugo, was fatally wounded while attempting to execute an arrest warrant in the Hacienda del Parque neighborhood.

The State Attorney General's Office (FGJEM) reported that Lugo was part of an operation targeting a suspect in a femicide investigation. During the process of serving the warrant, the suspect opened fire on the agents. Lugo, acting in self-defense and to protect his colleagues, returned fire, killing the aggressor.

With bravery and the legitimate use of force, our colleague repelled the aggression, managing to take down his aggressor and protect the elements that accompanied him.

Tragically, Lugo sustained fatal gunshot wounds during the exchange and died at the scene. The FGJEM expressed "the highest recognition for his dedication to public service and the administration of justice" in honor of the fallen agent. Preliminary reports initially indicated four arrests, but this number was later updated to six individuals who were present inside the property where the incident occurred.

The confrontation took place around 4:00 PM at an apartment in building 391 of Hacienda del Parque. The suspect reportedly met the arriving agents with gunfire. Lugo's actions are credited with neutralizing the immediate threat and safeguarding the other officers involved in the operation.
