Six Arrested After Gunfire Erupts During Brawl in Mexico City's La Lagunilla

A violent altercation involving gunfire in the La Lagunilla area of Mexico City led to the arrest of six young men on Sunday. The incident, which took place in the Morelos neighborhood, reportedly began as a physical fight before escalating to shots being fired.

According to police reports, the individuals arrested are identified as Jean, Neytan, Yair, Jeshua, Marvin, and Edgar. Authorities suspect they are affiliated with the criminal organization known as La Unión Tepito. The arrests were made by officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) who responded to alerts about the disturbance.

Elements of the SSC were alerted about the aggression and moved to Comonfort street, where they found a person who indicated that several subjects had beaten him and subsequently fired shots before escaping.

Initial police response focused on the Comonfort street area, where officers encountered an individual who claimed to have been assaulted and shot at by the fleeing suspects. A pursuit ensued, leading to the apprehension of three individuals, aged 14, 18, and 19, who were found in possession of a handgun during a preliminary search. Subsequent investigation, aided by surveillance cameras from C2 Centro, identified and located three more suspects in Pasaje Siria. These three, aged 17, 19, and 19, were apprehended while riding bicycles and were found to be carrying 50 small bags containing a green substance resembling marijuana.

Despite the reported exchange of blows and gunfire during the confrontation, authorities confirmed that no individuals sustained gunshot wounds. All six detainees were transported to the Public Ministry, along with the seized firearm and suspected narcotics, to face legal proceedings.

The last three detainees, aged 19, 19, and 17, were traveling on a bicycle and, after being intercepted, were found to be in possession of 50 small bags with a green herb similar to marijuana.
