Violent weekend in Sinaloa leaves five dead, 14 injured, including a child

Sinaloa, Mexico – A wave of violence swept across Sinaloa over the weekend, leaving five people dead and at least 14 others injured. Among the wounded was a three-year-old boy, Wilberth "N," who sustained gunshot wounds during an attack at a party.

In Concordia, an improvised explosive device was thrown at a beer stand, killing two people and injuring three others. Meanwhile, in Culiacán, the state capital, armed individuals on motorcycles opened fire on attendees at an open-air party. This attack left two adults, identified as Martín "N" and Luis "N," along with the young child, injured.

Further incidents contributed to the grim toll. In Culiacán, a body wrapped in black plastic was discovered in a parking lot, later identified as 33-year-old Jesús Alexis "N," who had been reported missing since Wednesday. Near Mazatlán's historic center, a shooting attack on a group of people resulted in one fatality and two injuries.

Authorities are investigating these separate incidents that occurred in Concordia, Culiacán, and Mazatlán, highlighting a disturbing pattern of violence across the state. The discovery of the body and the pursuit of an armed individual in Mazatlán underscore the ongoing security challenges in the region.
