Six dead, nine injured in minivan-trailer truck crash on Peru's Panamericana Norte

A devastating traffic accident on the Panamericana Norte highway in Huaura, Peru, claimed six lives and left nine people injured when a passenger minivan collided with a trailer truck. The crash occurred on July 3rd at kilometer 181 in the Medio Mundo sector of Végueta district.

The impact was so severe that it reportedly tore the minivan in half. Emergency services, including the Servicio de Atención Móvil de Urgencia (SAMU), responded swiftly to transport the wounded to hospitals in Supe, Huacho, and Huaral. The injured have been identified as Galileo Mendoza Calderón, Tomás Rosales Ventura, Misael Piero Vásquez León, Fabián Alexis Pizarro de la Cruz, Victoria Estela Paredes Fung, Robert Eduardo García Zamudio, Fidel Zavaleta, Walter Picón Cáceres, and Abelardo Vidal Torres.

Authorities have cordoned off the area and are conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of the collision. The accident led to significant traffic disruptions, causing long queues in both directions on the vital highway for several hours. As of now, the identities of the six deceased individuals have not been officially confirmed, nor have the specific circumstances that led to the fatal crash been released.
