Six high school students assault classmate in Cheonan; victim suffers head injury

Police in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, are investigating six high school students suspected of collectively assaulting a fellow student. The incident, which reportedly occurred on May 18 around 11 p.m., began in a karaoke room in Dujeong-dong and continued in a nearby parking lot.

The victim, a second-year high school student, suffered a severe head injury and underwent emergency surgery. They have since been discharged and are currently receiving treatment. The victim's mother reported the assault, prompting the police investigation.

Authorities have requested arrest warrants for three of the primary suspects involved in the group assault. The investigation is ongoing to determine the specific details of the attack and the extent of each perpetrator's involvement. This incident follows another recent case in Cheonan where seven middle school students are being investigated for assaulting a peer with an intellectual disability.
