Six suspects arrested in Pekan Nanas death, all have prior criminal and drug records

Six individuals have been apprehended by Johor police in connection with a fatal assault in Pekan Nanas. The suspects, all locals between 18 and 22 years old, were detained in Batu Pahat and Gelang Patah. Authorities revealed that these individuals possess previous convictions for criminal offenses and drug-related activities, underscoring a persistent issue with crime and substance abuse in the region.

The suspects have previous records related to criminal cases and drug abuse.

The operation, a joint effort by the Johor Contingent Criminal Investigation Force and the Pontian District Police Headquarters, also involved specialized units and the forensic department. During the arrests, police confiscated various items suspected to have been used during the attack, valued at approximately RM120,000. These seizures included a Nissan Navara, a Toyota Estima, a parang, masks, and an iPhone 17 Pro.

While the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the assault that led to the victim's death, the motive behind the killing remains under investigation. Police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend additional suspects still at large and to recover any remaining evidence. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, highlighting the seriousness of the charges faced by the apprehended individuals.
