Sixth demolition of unsafe structures carried out in La Guaira

Authorities in La Guaira state carried out a controlled demolition on Friday at the Arrecife residences in the Tanaguarena sector. The structures had been classified as dangerous.

The operation was the sixth scheduled demolition in the state under Plan Venezuela Renace 2026. It formed part of efforts to address areas affected by the June 24 earthquakes that still pose a risk to residents.

The National Contingency and Emergency General Staff coordinated the work. Authorities said technicians followed safety protocols and adopted measures to reduce risks during the collapse of the structures.

Officials said the demolition had been carried out by agreement with those affected. The priority, they said, was to prevent possible accidents and protect residents. The operation also forms part of wider work to recover damaged spaces and strengthen Venezuela's infrastructure after the earthquakes, with the government announcing agreements with national and international companies in infrastructure, energy and services.
