SK Hynix Negotiating HBM Volume, Price for Next Year Amid Rising DRAM Costs

SK Hynix announced it is in discussions with major clients regarding the supply volume and pricing of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) for the upcoming year. The company indicated that the current surge in standard DRAM prices is expected to have a partial impact on these HBM negotiations.

During its second-quarter earnings conference call on July 29, SK Hynix stated, "We are currently negotiating the volume and price of HBM for 2027 with major clients." The company highlighted that these discussions are proceeding smoothly, underpinned by robust customer demand.

The semiconductor memory market has seen significant price increases for standard DRAM. This trend is attributed to factors such as production cuts by major manufacturers and a rebound in demand from sectors like artificial intelligence servers and graphics cards, which are major consumers of HBM. The rising cost of DRAM is likely to translate into higher pricing expectations for HBM, a more advanced and specialized memory product.
