SK to Build AI Data Center Infrastructure in Vietnam; Posco to Construct Battery Material Plant

The Republic of Korea's economic engagement with Vietnam is entering a new phase, with major corporations spearheading significant investments during President Lee Jae-myung's state visit. The Korea-Vietnam Business Forum in Hanoi served as a crucial platform, facilitating the signing of over 70 Memoranda of Understanding and contracts. This demonstrates a robust commitment from Korean industry leaders, including SK Innovation, Posco Future M, Samsung, LG, Lotte, and HD Hyundai, to deepen ties with Vietnam.

SK Innovation and SK Telecom are poised to develop AI data center infrastructure and ecosystems in Vietnam, while Posco Future M is strengthening its local supply chain by establishing a plant for key battery materials like artificial graphite anode. These initiatives highlight Vietnam's growing importance as a hub for advanced manufacturing and technology. The participation of Vietnamese officials, such as Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, alongside Korean business magnates, underscores the strategic significance both nations place on this partnership.

Beyond AI and battery materials, the collaboration extends to critical sectors such as nuclear power and power grid modernization. Doosan Enerbility's engagement in new nuclear power cooperation and Daehan Electric Wire's involvement in upgrading the power grid and ultra-high voltage cable projects signal a comprehensive approach to infrastructure development. This multifaceted cooperation, driven by both government support and private sector initiative, positions Vietnam as a key partner for Korea's industrial advancement and technological innovation.
