SkyGate NHJ Technology to Invest RM121 Million in Smart Factory in Penang

SkyGate NHJ Technology plans to invest up to RM121 million in a new smart factory in Penang, with the project expected to create more than 100 high-quality technical jobs for local workers.

The manufacturing facility will be developed in two phases. Chief Executive Officer Jian Li said the first phase would establish an automated five-axis production line, an automated horizontal machining center with a centralized tool storage system, and multi-tasking turning and milling machines.

The second phase will focus on automated machining and inspection for large semiconductor components, as well as digital twin technology and artificial intelligence applications. The approximately 36,000-square-foot facility includes advanced horizontal and five-axis computer numerical control machinery to support digital manufacturing, automation and high-technology machining.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow officiated the facility's opening. He said the state government welcomed commitments from industrial companies to create quality jobs and develop local talent through cooperation with universities and industry partners.

Chow said Penang is home to more than 30 automated test equipment companies, supported by more than 80 partners in automation, precision engineering and semiconductor manufacturing. He said SkyGate's precision manufacturing capabilities, spanning semiconductors and electronics, medical products, optics and aerospace, positioned the company to contribute to the wider high-technology ecosystem.
