Slovenia Returns to France’s Top Flight with Srđan Kuzmić Transfer

Srđan Kuzmić will give Slovenia a player in France's top division again after completing a three-million-euro move from Danish club Viborg to Lorient.

The 22-year-old full-back signed with Lorient through June 2030. He made 86 appearances for Viborg, scoring six goals and providing five assists after moving to Denmark in July 2023.

Kuzmić began his career at Ilirija 1911 and made his Slovenian top-flight debut with Mura. Lorient described him as capable of playing on both sides of the defense. Although he mostly played left-back at Viborg, he also played on the right for Slovenia's youth national teams.

Sporting director Laurent Koscielny said Lorient had monitored Kuzmić for several months. Koscielny called him an interesting player with room to improve and said his experience in Denmark had helped him mature and become more consistent. Lorient began the new French league season with a draw and a defeat, and is due to visit runners-up Lens on Saturday.
