Slovenia's Pension Puzzle: How Will Your Retirement Look in 20 Years?

Slovenia's pension system is at a critical juncture, with current data revealing a stark reality: only about 1.5 insured individuals support each pensioner. This ratio is expected to decline further, placing immense pressure on the public pension system's sustainability.

Projections from both the European Commission and Slovenia's Statistical Office paint a clear picture of an aging population. By 2040, the country anticipates approximately 84,000 more pensioners and a reduction of around 54,000 workers compared to 2022. By 2050, nearly one-third of the population could be over 65.

Voluntary supplementary pension insurance (PDPZ) is highlighted as a crucial tool for long-term financial planning.
