Slovenian competitor impresses with new podium finish

Slovenia's top Nordic combined athlete, Ema Volavšek, continues her impressive streak in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Grand Prix. Just three days after her success in Bischofshofn, the 23-year-old secured another podium finish, taking third place in Oberstdorf.

Volavšek, a member of SSK Ilirija, was in seventh place after the jumping portion of the competition. However, her strong performance in the 5 km cross-country skiing segment propelled her into the top three. She finished 56.5 seconds behind the winner, Norway's Ida Marie Hagen, who narrowly edged out Germany's Nathalie Armbruster for the victory.

Notably, 17-year-old Maša Likozar Brankovič, daughter of former biathlete Tadeja Brankovič, also made a strong showing, finishing in sixth place. Other Slovenian competitors included Tia Malovrh in eleventh and Teja Pavec in twelfth.

In the overall Grand Prix standings, Ida Marie Hagen leads with 290 points, followed by Volavšek in second with 250 points. Maša Likozar Brankovič is ninth overall. The next and final events of the summer World Cup season are scheduled for the upcoming weekend in Chaux-Neuve.
