Slovenian star Lara Prašnikar joins German powerhouse Wolfsburg

Slovenian international Lara Prašnikar is returning to the German Frauen-Bundesliga, signing a contract with VfL Wolfsburg until June 30, 2029. The 28-year-old forward, who was named the best Slovenian footballer in 2023, will wear the number 9 jersey for one of Germany's most successful women's football clubs. Prašnikar joins Wolfsburg after two seasons with the Utah Royals in the US National Women's Soccer League. "It's nice to be back in the Bundesliga and to wear the Wolfsburg jersey," Prašnikar stated. "I am very happy that we were able to convince Lara to join us mid-season from the US," Bernauer said. "She has proven her quality in the Bundesliga for many years. She is very versatile in attack, able to play as a central forward or slightly deeper. Regardless of the position, her scoring statistics speak for themselves."

Prašnikar has a significant history in German football, having played for Turbine Potsdam and Eintracht Frankfurt between 2016 and 2025. During her previous Bundesliga career, she scored 68 goals in 162 matches. She also represented Slovenian clubs Šmartno and Rudar from Škale before her international career. For the Slovenian national team, Prašnikar has earned 94 caps and scored 48 goals.
