Smuggling operations in Sakarya: 3 suspects detained

Turkish police have arrested three individuals in operations targeting smuggling activities in the Adapazarı and Arifiye districts of Sakarya province. The raids were conducted under the coordination of the Provincial Public Prosecutor's Office by the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch.

During the operations, aimed at preventing smuggling offenses, searches were carried out on the suspects, their vehicles, and one business premises. Authorities seized a significant quantity of contraband goods.

The confiscated items include one unlicensed pistol with five bullets, 8,600 new-generation electronic cigarettes, 2,700 units of smuggled sexual enhancement products, 650 smuggled cigarettes, and 45 smuggled electronic cigarettes. The total value and origin of the seized goods highlight the scale of the smuggling ring.

The three suspects taken into custody are now facing legal proceedings. The police department stated the operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and smuggling within the region.
