South Korean actor So Ji-sub, who starred in the recent SBS hit drama "The Atypical Family" (also known as "The Atypical Family: Return of the King"), has shared his thoughts on a potential second season. Fans are eager for news about a sequel, and So Ji-sub expressed his preference for a strong, overarching narrative. He hopes that a second season would feature a substantial main plot, akin to the "daughter's disappearance" storyline that anchored the first season, rather than an episodic format.

The first season of "The Atypical Family," which aired for 10 episodes from late June to late July, captivated audiences with its premise of an ordinary middle-aged father transforming into a dangerous man to save his daughter. The drama achieved a peak viewership rating of 23%. So Ji-sub revealed that it was not the action sequences but the character's background and narrative that initially drew him to the role of Director Kim.

So Ji-sub noted that many people now refer to him as "Director Kim" instead of his real name. He contrasted this with his 2004 classic, "I'm Sorry, I Love You," remarking that younger generations who may not have seen the earlier drama are now getting to know him through "The Atypical Family." He even mentioned the term "K-trauma," used in South America to describe Korean dramas that leave viewers deeply emotional and crying for extended periods, with "I'm Sorry, I Love You" being a prime example.

Regarding the direction of a potential second season, So Ji-sub offered intriguing possibilities. He suggested that Director Kim's character might evolve with the main plot and hinted at a "team format" for future endeavors, citing the expansive world-building.
