Social Aid Recipients Encouraged to Become Members and Business Actors in KDMP

Indonesia's Ministry of Social Affairs is actively promoting social aid recipients to become members and entrepreneurs within the Village/Kelurahan Red and White Cooperatives (KDMP). This move aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to accelerate the establishment of these village-level cooperatives.

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, widely known as Gus Ipul, stated that the ministry will encourage beneficiaries to actively participate in the KDMP. Beyond membership, the ministry aims to foster economic empowerment by enabling recipients to market and sell their products through the cooperative. This initiative seeks to create a more integrated economic ecosystem at the village level.

Furthermore, the ministry is exploring avenues to channel social aid, such as the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) and the Family Hope Program (PKH), through the KDMP. This could allow recipients to collect their aid or purchase necessities directly from the cooperative, streamlining the distribution process and potentially boosting local economic activity.

The ministry is currently piloting this program in several locations in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperatives. Gus Ipul expressed optimism that the KDMP can become fully operational once the necessary infrastructure, human resources, and commodity availability are secured. The phased rollout will depend on the readiness of the local infrastructure and operational capabilities.
