Socialist Union Party endorses female candidates for regional elections

Morocco's Socialist Union Party (Parti du Progrès et des Socialistes - PPS) has announced its endorsed candidates for the regional legislative elections specifically designated for women. The party's political bureau convened to finalize these nominations, following a procedure that included interviews with the female candidates.

According to a party statement, the political bureau engaged in extensive, deep, and objective discussions regarding the general criteria for selection. Subsequently, the party decided to endorse specific names to lead the PPS lists in various regional constituencies. This decision aims to fulfill the party's commitment to female representation in the upcoming elections.

The endorsed candidates include Ahlam Jilad for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Hanane Khalil for the Oriental region, Zahra Barhoui for Fez-Meknes, Soumia Mansif for Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Dalila Al-Oudi for Casablanca-Settat, Mariam El Kanouni for Marrakech-Safi, Fatima Adnan for Draa-Tafilalet, Khadija El Baz for Souss-Massa, and Rabia El Kabous for Guelmim-Oued Noun.

However, the political bureau decided to postpone the decision on candidates for the regional legislative constituencies in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab regions. These decisions will be made at a later date, indicating ongoing deliberations or further review processes for these specific areas.
