Sociologist Jarosław Flis on Mateusz Morawiecki's chances: He points to his main problem

Flis, affiliated with Jagiellonian University, posits that a significant component of KO's past success stemmed from voters' fear of PiS. He suggests that if PiS fractures, this fear-based motivation for supporting KO may become less potent.

"One of the main components of the Platform's success was the fear of PiS," Flis stated. "After the collapse of PiS, scaring people with Kaczyński will no longer be so effective. The Civic Coalition is losing one of its drivers, and moreover, the other engines are seizing up or running out of fuel."

Flis pointed to the current public statements made by PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński directed at Mateusz Morawiecki, suggesting this internal discord does not bode well for party unity. This internal strife within PiS, he argues, removes a crucial element that previously galvanized opposition support for KO.

The sociologist indicated that the political landscape is in constant flux, but the potential disintegration of PiS marks a significant moment. He believes that KO's reliance on this anti-PiS sentiment, coupled with potential issues with its other electoral strategies, could present challenges for the party moving forward.
