Söder's daughter reveals severe bullying in documentary

Gloria-Sophie Burkandt, daughter of Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder, has shared her experiences of severe bullying during her school years in the second episode of the ProSieben documentary series "Born Famous - Curse or Blessing." Burkandt, 27, described the bullying as the "most extreme form," recounting instances of physical assault and profound humiliation.

She characterized the emotional toll as "the finest" kind of suffering for her soul. The series also includes her father, Söder, who appears alongside her, acknowledging her challenging journey.

Burkandt also revisited her public battle with anorexia, admitting, "I was so foolish during that time that I didn't eat anything." She noted the significant distress this caused her parents and her maternal grandparents, with whom she largely grew up due to her mother's single-parent status and career.

The documentary also explores the complexities of the father-daughter relationship. Burkandt expresses a desire for more time with her busy father, while Söder voices his reservations about her chosen career path, preferring a more conventional route with stable income and a pension. Despite his concerns, Söder also expressed his strong desire to become a grandfather, humorously stating that the "goodness of God knows no bounds" when asked how many grandchildren he hopes for, adding, "I would find many great."
