Sogang University Startup AIVY Selected for Government's TIPS Program for AI Wearable

AIVY, a startup founded by Professor Ha Jeong-wook of Sogang University's Convergence Education Center, has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' "2026 TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup) General Track Program." This selection grants AIVY access to up to 800 million won in research and development funding over the next two years, recognizing its technological innovation and growth potential.

Established just six months ago and based at the Sogang-Pangyo Digital Innovation Campus, AIVY has already achieved significant milestones, including accumulating 1.7 billion won in investment and securing TIPS selection. The TIPS program is a government initiative that supports promising technology startups by linking private investment with government R&D funding, fostering a robust public-private partnership.

The company's flagship product, 'AIVY Echo,' is an innovative screenless AI wearable designed specifically for industrial workers. Unlike traditional helmet-mounted devices, AIVY Echo is ultra-lightweight and operates entirely through voice commands using a bone-conduction system that allows users to remain aware of their surroundings. This design ensures both hands and ears remain free, enhancing safety and efficiency in demanding work environments.

AIVY Echo boasts advanced features, including proprietary noise-canceling technology for clear voice recognition in noisy settings and on-device AI processing. This on-device capability ensures enhanced security and rapid response times without requiring a network connection. The company has already secured domestic patents for its core technologies.

Initially targeting the AI transformation of smart factories in heavy industries such as shipbuilding, steel, petrochemicals, construction, and logistics, AIVY plans to expand its reach into the medical and education sectors. The company's core development team includes former LG Electronics personnel, bringing extensive experience in hardware and AI development. AIVY is currently collaborating with LG Electronics and Sogang University's AI research team on joint R&D projects and exploring partnerships with major domestic corporations and smart factory solution providers.
