Sokoto Floats 1,550-Member Marshal Corps, Inducts First Female Cadets to Deepen Grassroots Security

Sokoto State has launched the Sokoto State Marshals Agency (SOSMA), graduating 1,550 operatives to strengthen grassroots security. The ceremony marked a significant milestone with the induction of its first 70 female marshals, signaling a new era for community policing in the region.

The newly trained marshals are skilled in four specialized areas: environmental enforcement, security and intelligence, traffic management, and the protection of public infrastructure. Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, the special guest, lauded the establishment of SOSMA, emphasizing its alignment with national security objectives. He commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his commitment to peace and unity, noting the marshals would serve as a force multiplier.
