Soldier dies after bravely rescuing two from electrocution in Gia Lai

Private Kpă Thiệp, a 20-year-old soldier from the 28th Regiment of the 10th Division, has died after a heroic act of self-sacrifice. While on leave in his hometown of Ia Ko, Gia Lai province, Thiệp witnessed two local residents collapse due to electrocution. Without hesitation, he rushed to pull both victims away from the danger.

Tragically, Thiệp also lost consciousness during the rescue. While the two individuals he saved were taken to Chư Sê Medical Center and are now in stable condition, Private Thiệp did not survive. A provincial forensic conclusion stated his death was caused by cardiac arrest due to electric shock, with no external trauma found on his body.

Kpă Thiệp, an ethnic Jarai man who joined the military in February 2025, leaves behind a wife and two young children. His unit, the 34th Military Corps, has officially reported the incident to higher command and is supporting a recommendation for a posthumous commendation for his bravery. Colleagues have also shown their support by donating nearly 150 million Vietnamese dong to his grieving family, aiming to alleviate their financial hardship following the soldier's untimely death.

The local authorities, including the UBND of Ia Ko commune, the Commune Military Command, and the local police, have confirmed the details of the incident. They are supporting the recommendation for a posthumous award to honor Thiệp's courageous act of saving two lives at the cost of his own.
