Soldiers arrest six suspected oil bunkerers in Lagos

Troops from the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have arrested six individuals suspected of oil bunkering in the Orile General Area of Lagos State. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo.

According to Lieutenant Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 81 Division Nigerian Army, the raid was based on credible intelligence. During the operation, soldiers seized four trucks, a pumping machine, and various pipes and drums believed to be used in illegal bunkering activities.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops raided the site and arrested six suspected oil bunkerers. The operation also led to the recovery of four trucks, one pumping machine, and assorted pipes and drums allegedly used for illegal bunkering activities.

The arrested suspects and the confiscated items have been transferred to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.

Major General Adebayo Babalola, General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their successful operation. He urged them to maintain their offensive against economic sabotage and other criminal activities within the division's area of responsibility. The army stated that this operation is part of its ongoing efforts to combat illegal oil bunkering, protect national assets, and enhance security.
