Sombor Hottest in Serbia at 37 Degrees Amid Ongoing Heatwave

Serbia is currently grappling with a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring across the country. Sombor registered the highest temperature at noon, reaching a sweltering 37 degrees Celsius. This marks another day of extreme heat as the nation endures a prolonged period of high temperatures.

In Serbia at 12 o'clock, it was hottest in Sombor where 37 degrees were measured.

Several other cities experienced temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius, including Palić, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, and Kikinda. Belgrade, Sremska Mitrovica, and Negotin recorded slightly lower temperatures at 35 degrees Celsius. In contrast, mountain resorts like Kopaonik and Zlatibor offered some respite, with temperatures recorded at 21 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

A temperature of 36 degrees was measured in Palić, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, and Kikinda.

The Serbian Republic Hydrometeorological Service (RHMZ) has issued warnings, advising citizens to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. due to potential health risks. They recommend staying hydrated and seeking cooler environments whenever possible. The heatwave is expected to persist through the first ten days of August, with forecasts predicting tropical nights in urban areas.
