Son Heung-min scores again as LAFC extends winning streak to three

Son Heung-min is finding his scoring touch for LAFC, netting his second consecutive goal in the team's 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday. The South Korean forward opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a powerful left-footed shot into the bottom left corner after a swift counter-attack.

This recent goal follows his first MLS goal of the season, scored with his right foot against LA Galaxy on June 18, ending a 14-game drought in league play. While Son had provided nine assists and scored two goals in the CONCACAF Champions Cup earlier in the season, his league scoring had been notably absent until recently.

"I felt the first goal was a bit late, but I wasn't worried because I've been maintaining good physical condition," Son said after his initial league goal. "I think I recovered mentally well by resting in Korea after the World Cup."

Son's impact against Real Salt Lake extended beyond his own goal. He also assisted teammate Bouanga's goal in the 40th minute and was instrumental in forcing an own goal from Real Salt Lake's DeAndre Yedlin in the 68th minute. Under MLS's secondary assist rules, Son was credited with an assist, bringing his season total to two goals and ten assists.

The victory marked LAFC's third consecutive win, bringing their record to 9 wins, 3 draws, and 5 losses for 30 points. This places them third in the Western Conference standings.
