Son Heung-min to start for LAFC against Toluca in Leagues Cup, seeking to break scoring drought

LAFC forward Son Heung-min is set to start in the upcoming Leagues Cup match against Mexican club Toluca, looking to reignite his scoring form. The game is scheduled for July 9th at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

This match is particularly significant for LAFC as they aim to avenge their elimination from the CONCACAF Champions Cup by Toluca in the semifinals. In their previous Leagues Cup fixture on July 6th, LAFC drew 1-1 with Chivas Guadalajara before winning 5-4 in a penalty shootout.

The Leagues Cup format dictates that matches must have a winner, decided by a penalty shootout if necessary. Teams earn three points for a win in regulation and two points for a shootout victory. The top four teams from each league (USA and Mexico) advance to the quarterfinals.

Son Heung-min, who failed to score in his last five official matches, is eager to find the back of the net against Toluca.
