Son Suk-hee to return to MBC Radio after 13 years

Veteran broadcaster Son Suk-hee is set to make a return to MBC Radio after a 13-year hiatus. Starting June 29, he will host a new program titled 'Son Suk-hee's 12 PM' on Standard FM, airing daily from 12:05 PM to 2:00 PM. This marks his comeback to MBC Radio, where he previously hosted the popular show 'Son Suk-hee's Focus on Issues' from 2000 to 2013.

The production team described the new program's aim as presenting a distinctive approach to observing and analyzing the world, collaborating with top domestic and international experts. They highlighted the current era, where breaking news about figures like Jensen Huang's arrival or Donald Trump's statements can immediately impact markets, making global trends an integral part of daily life. The show intends to reflect this reality by offering in-depth analysis.

Son Suk-hee began his career at MBC as an announcer in 1984. After leaving the network in 2006, he transitioned to academia, becoming a professor at Sungshin Women's University. Despite leaving MBC, he continued to host prominent programs like '100 Minute Debate' until 2009 and 'Son Suk-hee's Focus on Issues' until 2013. He later moved to JTBC in 2013, serving as president of the news division and anchoring the main news program 'Newsroom.' After departing JTBC in 2023, he returned to MBC last year to host 'Son Suk-hee's Questions.'

The radio schedule changes accompanying Son Suk-hee's return include the relocation of 'Trot Radio,' previously in the same time slot, to 2:20 PM (2:10 PM on weekends). 'Park Joon-hyung, Park Young-jin's Two O'Clock Manse' will conclude its run on June 28. The new programming across MBC Standard FM and FM4U will begin early on June 29 and will also be available via the smart radio app Mini.
