Song Bung Hydropower Company Steps Up Disaster-Preparedness Campaign in Da Nang

Song Bung Hydropower Company has expanded disaster-prevention outreach and safety checks in downstream communities around its hydropower plants in Da Nang.

From August 26 to 28, the company worked with authorities in Ben Giang, Nam Giang, La Deê and La Êê, as well as La Êê Border Guard Station. A central focus was adding communication channels for reservoir-regulation warnings. Alongside existing systems, local loudspeakers and municipal information platforms will help residents receive alerts during reservoir operations.

Company teams and local authorities inspected flood-release corridors and reviewed the warning system downstream from Song Bung 2 Hydropower Plant. The checks aimed to identify risks that could affect flood drainage and the delivery of warnings when the reservoir is regulated.

The company also held a 2026 disaster-prevention meeting for downstream residents. Officials explained the role of hydropower facilities, how reservoirs operate and how reservoir regulation can help reduce flooding downstream. Residents raised practical concerns about disaster prevention and mitigation.

In La Êê, the company and border guards reviewed coordination rules for warnings, inspections and safety during spillway releases from the Song Bung 2 reservoir. Teams also cleared vines and vegetation around warning stations to help keep the system operating safely and reliably.
