Sonora Prosecutor's Office rules Hermosillo deaths a feminicide, homicide, and suicide

Authorities in Sonora have clarified the circumstances surrounding the discovery of three bodies inside a vehicle in Hermosillo, concluding it was a case of feminicide, homicide, and suicide. The State Attorney General's Office (FGJE) identified Carolina “N” as the victim of feminicide and Jesús Ricardo “N” as the victim of homicide.

Sergio Isaías “N,” also known as “El Chabelo,” has been identified as the perpetrator of both killings. The investigation suggests that after committing the murders, Sergio Isaías took his own life. The events unfolded in the early morning hours of August 8.

According to the ministerial reconstruction, Carolina met Jesús Ricardo at a bar on August 7. They later moved to another establishment before heading to a residence on Camino del Seri. Surveillance footage captured Sergio Isaías scaling a fence to enter the residential area and approaching the GMC Yukon SUV where Carolina and Jesús Ricardo were. The FGJE reported that after an argument inside the vehicle, two gunshots were heard.

Emergency services responded to a report of individuals injured by gunfire inside the vehicle at the intersection of Antonio Quiroga Boulevard and Camino del Seri. Upon arrival, they confirmed all three individuals were deceased. Sergio Isaías was found in the rear seat with a handgun in his hands. Forensic analysis revealed gunshot residue on both of his hands, and the positioning of the bodies, the weapon, and video recordings supported the conclusion of a murder-suicide.

Investigators learned that Carolina had been in a relationship with Sergio Isaías for approximately three years. Testimonies indicated that Sergio Isaías had a history of violence against Carolina, although no prior complaints had been filed with authorities. The timeline indicates Carolina and Jesús Ricardo left a bar around midnight on August 8, later joined by another person before proceeding to a residential area.
